Biomass heating systems
Economical, sustainable and practical, biomass heating systems are a compelling alternative to traditional heating systems in the home or workplace.
How it works
Biomass heating systems use carbon-neutral, wood-based products such as logs, woodchips or sawdust pellets to heat water and space within your home or workplace sustainably and economically. The systems can be fully automated, semi-automated or manual – it all depends on your budget, your requirements and the amount of storage space you have. And they can work side-by-side with any existing heating system to ensure heat or hot water is always available from the most cost-effective source.
Benefits
- Economical
- Proven technology
- Free from harmful emissions
- Suitable in both domestic and commercial environments
- Work side-by-side with any original heating systems
- Home owners, communities and businesses may be eligible for tariffs under the Renewable Heat Incentive as well as renewable energy grants
Other considerations
From April 2011, the government plans to make annual payments for biomass under the Renewable Heat Incentive scheme. These payments could amount to £2,500 per annum for a four bed detached house. To ensure you qualify for these, you need to use a Microgeneration Certification Scheme certified installer like True Energy. Some organisations will also provide grants or interest free loans for installing some renewable technologies.
